If you’ve ever tried to put together a business look that feels elegant without being stiff, or polished without feeling like you’re heading into a board meeting from the 90s, you know the struggle. Workwear is a delicate balance: chic, confident, professional… but still you.

That’s exactly the theme of today’s look. It’s part of my little series with Anna, who wanted outfits that feel modern and powerful without drifting into “too much” or “too bare” - especially for the office. In the last post, I showed you one look, styling a midi skirt for business, today we’re focussing on making pants feminine but powerful.

Her A-line body shape means a few things are essential: structure on top, ease on the bottom, and a waistline that isn’t lost. She doesn’t like anything overly tight and avoids overly loud colors. She feels best in neutrals, warm tones, clean tailoring and touches of softness through fabrics or accessories.

The core of this outfit is a pair of tailored chocolate-brown trousers - structured, elongated, with a waist detail that adds shape. The color alone immediately brings depth and warmth to her wardrobe, and it’s one of the most flattering tones for someone who prefers understated elegance but doesn’t want to look flat or basic.

I styled it with a cropped black blazer that creates definition at the waist without being to tight and body-hugging. The Blazer is a very common corporate look and has a very powerful and strong reputation, so we take advantage of that but mix things up a bit by choosing a cropped one, to wear as top.

To bring softness back in, without overdoing it,I chose pearl earrings -classic, bright, and sophisticated. A simple gold heart necklace matches the neckline perfectly and the gold ring ties the jewelry quietly together. Less in this case is more.

For shoes, I went with a pair of pointed slingbacks with a jewel detail. They elongate her frame, keep the outfit elegant, and add just enough interest to make the look an eye-catcher.

How do you like the look?
